Falling In Love With God's Word

Updated: Dec 4, 2023

Loving God's Word

‘Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.’ Matthew 24:35 KJV

One of the first books to come off the printing press when it was invented was the Bible. And it’s still the world’s best-selling book.

It’s been said that the Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the fate of sinners, and the happiness of believers. It is a light to direct you, food to nourish you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveller’s road map, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s weapon, and the player’s game plan. It’s a mine of incredible wealth; and a river of genuine joy. Its teachings are holy, its instructions are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are unchangeable.

Christ is its grand subject, and the glory of God is its end. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be spiritually healthy. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. Let God's word fill your memory, rule your heart, and guide your steps. It is given to you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labour, and judge those who trifle with its sacred contents.’

Most of us respect the Bible; the trouble is we don’t read it daily and put it into practice. After hearing what has been said about the Bible, why would you not delve into it and discover it for yourself? ‘The Word of the Lord endures forever.’ (1 Peter 1:25 NKJV)

Suggestion: Read four chapters a day with The M'Cheyne Bible Plan . The M’Cheyne plan takes the reader through the New Testament and Psalms twice each year, and through the rest of the Bible once.

About 1971 Evelyn Booth-Clibborn, gave me very enlightening advice about reading the Bible. Evelyn a granddaughter of General Booth, founder of the Salvation Army said there are two ways, read it like a book or before you read it ask Jesus Spirit to reveal what He wants you to understand. One is like a book, the other so different. Jesus, the word of God, will reveal the depths of its meaning. the understanding growing as time goes by. It becomes a living word, giving an understanding of the heart of God the Heavenly Father so that believing in Jesus, we will be saved through its enlightening power.
